KJV Only
Just thinking today how much of professing Christianity- those who claim to be conservative and walking the narrow way, are so liberal when it comes bible versions. They accept a broad range of versions, each of which is significantly different (not only in wording, but also in doctrine) from the others, all as the word of God.
A Pastor I heard once said “It seems pretty obvious to me that two things that are different are not the same thing.”
The choice of bible versions others make wouldn’t even concern me except that they, much like their liberal counterparts, attack and condemn any who care enough to choose which version they believe to be the most accurate one available and simply hold to that. Those who hold only to the KJV are accused of being cultish and narrow-minded. Ummm… excuse me, but aren’t we supposed to be in the narrow way? When did the broad view of Christianity become right?
Matthew 7:14 “Because strait is the gate, and narrow is the way, which leadeth unto life, and few there be that find it.”
The Bereans were commended in the bible for searching the scriptures to find out if what they were hearing lined up. They did not simply accept everything. They made sure that what they were adopting as truth, was true and accurate.
How does the new broad view of the bible versions NOT seem like a contradiction of our beliefs?
It would even be understandable to me if others simply disagreed over which 1 of the versions was right, but that is generally not the case. They want to use many versions. Most people do not have an issue with the accuracy of the KJV and will even claim it as their primary bible, and yet they insist on using others as well. I don’t understand the need for other versions myself (which by the way generally lead to confusion…e.g. “this one says this, this one says that. We just don’t know.”)
The Holy Spirit and a dictionary seem sufficient to me. Since I have been saved, I haven’t found it difficult to understand, and I’m no intellectual. The funny thing is that often it is the intellectuals that claim to need other bibles that are “easier to read and understand”.
This doesn’t even make sense to me. If we are born again believers, we have the Holy Spirit to enlighten our understanding. Why would we need to rely on different versions?
1 Corinthians 2:14 “But the natural man receiveth not the things of the Spirit of God: for they are foolishness unto him: neither can he know them, because they are spiritually discerned.”
What is most disturbing is the liberal view they have of the bible itself. They act as though it is merely the words of men, just like any other book and can be translated any way we like.
It is God’s word. Deuteronomy 4:2 "Ye shall not add unto the word which I command you, neither shall ye diminish ought from it, that ye may keep the commandments of the LORD your God which I command you."
It is Spirit and life- “quick, and powerful, and sharper than any twoedged sword, piercing even to the dividing asunder of soul and spirit, and of the joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart.” Hebrews 4:12
The word of God is life giving. “Of his own will begat he us with the word of truth,” James 1:18
1 Peter 1:23 Being born again, not of corruptible seed, but of incorruptible, by the word of God,
It is the very foundation of our faith.
Doesn’t it make sense for us as Christians to at least care enough to search the issue and choose the one that is the most reliable?

Which side would the Devil Choose in the Versions Debate?
Psalms 138:2 thou hast magnified thy word above all thy name.
Just listened to a sermon on the bible versions issue. The Preacher asked,” If the Devil is involved in the versions issue, (which he undoubtedly is) which side would he be on?”
Would he be supporting the narrow road of one truth? Or would he promote the broad, liberal view which accepts many versions, with their conflicting translations and differing doctrines? Would he want us to believe that God was able to preserve for us every word He God intended for us to have or that some were lost? Would he want us to believe we have the true word of God, or just one of many possible translations?
Would the Devil want us to believe that the scriptures were God-breathed, or merely written by men? Would he want us to believe that they are Spiritual, and able to give new life, or merely the fleshly work of fallible men? Would he want us to believe that God inspired every word of his holy Bible, or just the general ideas (which of course are subject to private interpretation)?
If it is true as God’s word says, that the word of God which brings us to faith and new life, feeds us and strengthens us, thoroughly furnishing us to every good work, would the Devil want us to have every word? Of course not. To think for even a second that the Devil is not involved is beyond foolish.
John 6:63 It is the spirit that quickeneth; the flesh profiteth nothing: the words that I speak unto you, they are spirit, and they are life.
1 Peter 1:23 Being born again, not of corruptible seed, but of incorruptible, by the word of God, which liveth and abideth for ever.
Deuteronomy 8:3 And he humbled thee, and suffered thee to hunger, and fed thee with manna, which thou knewest not, neither did thy fathers know; that he might make thee know that man doth not live by bread only, but by every word that proceedeth out of the mouth of the LORD doth man live.
Romans 10:17 So then faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.
Matthew 24:35 Heaven and earth shall pass away, but my words shall not pass away.
