The preaching of repentance toward God has been replaced by “simply ask Jesus into your heart” (most often, your sinful and continuously rebellious heart). No turning from sin, no desire to be reconciled with God, and no genuine need of a Savior is required in this new Christianity. THIS IS NOT SALVATION!
This edited version of the gospel seems so much more appealing, that no longer do we even teach the whole message of the gospel once preached by the apostle Paul.
Acts 20:20 And how I kept back nothing that was profitable unto you, but have shewed you, and have taught you publickly, and from house to house,
21 Testifying both to the Jews, and also to the Greeks, repentance toward God, and faith toward our Lord Jesus Christ.
This new gospel message, as false as it is produces, you guessed it… false converts, who now fill the church. These false Christians who desire a show of religion, the sociality of “fellowship” and entertainment from the pulpit are more moved by the storytelling and motivational preachers than by those preaching the quick and powerful word of God.
2 Timothy 3:1 This know also, that in the last days perilous times shall come.
2 For men shall be lovers of their own selves, covetous, boasters, proud, blasphemers, disobedient to parents, unthankful, unholy,
3 Without natural affection, trucebreakers, false accusers, incontinent, fierce, despisers of those that are good,
4 Traitors, heady, highminded, lovers of pleasures more than lovers of God;
5 Having a form of godliness, but denying the power thereof: from such turn away.
We have fulfilled this prophecy ourselves. Oh Lord, we have sinned against you in our rejection of the truth. We have loved ourselves more than you. We have loved the instant gratification and rewards of Quick Prayerism, more than we have loved your truth.
No longer do we plow the soil of men’s hearts with the preaching of the fear of the Lord. No longer do sow the seed of the sincere word of God, nor do we even water it, and yet we insist that we reap souls instantly. We refuse to be led by your Spirit, but instead run far ahead. No longer are we content to allow you to give the increase. We choose instead to make our own converts and seal them with a prayer rather than the regeneration of the Holy Spirit.
Oh Lord, please forgive us. We have failed you and failed our once Christian nation. NO longer do we shine a light in the darkness to lead sinners home. Instead we join them there, loving the darkness rather than the light.
Prayer and fasting seems the desperate need of the hour. Where are the men of God who sigh and cry for righteousness? Lord, please raise up some Christian men who will not shrink from preaching the truth of your word. Call out men with hearts of the prophets’ who will stand in the gap even if it means to stand alone; men who are willing to be hated by the multitudes if it means pleasing you.
